About Pedro Díaz – Bilingual Copywriter
Background
Born and raised in Mexico, I started my career in copywriting as a trainee in 2004. My first job after university was a freelance translation project for a Canadian ad agency. Shortly after, I took a full-time job at the Mexican Consulate in Vancouver. The combination of these experiences put me at the vanguard of transcreation, and localization.
I studied Mathematics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and earned my BA in Philosophy at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
Today
A native Spanish speaker from Mexico City, my creative career has taken me to Vancouver, Barcelona, New York, and now primarily remote projects from my home office in small town Texas. I am trusted by some of the biggest brands in the world, to not only ensure their marketing efforts effectively align with their original ideas, but maintain their impact from the original English copy.
With a career that spans over 10 years, I’m proud of the versatility I bring to the table: From writing strange fiction short stories in Spanish to doing commercial Spanish voice over and English copywriting for the NFL, to providing eagle-eyed quality control for the localization efforts of various luxury brands, to devising BTL campaigns — and even translating Bollywood soaps!
I’m currently working on my second book of short stories in Spanish.
